DETOUR A piano player sets off hitchhiking his way to California to be with his girl. Along the way, a stranger in a shiny new convertible gives him a ride. A detour later and the pianoman finds himself an apparent murderer! At the next torn, a woman, an archtypical femme fetale, who knows of his "crime" begins to blackmail him, trying to involve him in a plot to impersonate a dead man! Murder, death and retribution follow. A fantastic script (including some of the coolest, hard-boiled voice over dialogue ever to hit the screen), and two great performances add up to one of the greatest film noir quickies. National Film Registry Directed by Edger G. Ulmer. Cast, Tom Neal, Ann Savage, Claudia Drake. USA 1945 , 71 Minutes. |

CROSSCURRENTS & C-MAN Two classic episodes from the 1950s are presented as prime examples of television’s attempt to transfer some film noir magic to the television screen. First up, from Crosscurrents is "The Case of the Forged Passports," with agent Christopher Storm tangoing with beauties and shady characters in Vienna as he searches for stolen printing plates which are being used to produce forged American Passports. Starring Gerald Mohr & James Daly with Sheldon Reynolds directing. From “Federal Men” comes the The C-Man episode, "The Case of the Perfect Gentleman," with a nightclub owner who gets mixed up with a couple of gangsters, the feds and two women. "The Case of the Perfect Gentleman," stars Paul Langton, John Stephenson, Dorothy Green & Betty Lou Garson under the direction of Robert Sloane. USA 50m ISBN: 1-55881-508-2
